Reminder: Dare to Dream Deadline Approaching

Southwest Zone Coaches and Club Admins,

This is a friendly reminder of the Dare to Dream – Texas Festival on January 18-19, 2020 at the new pool on campus of Lamar High School in Houston, TX (over the MLK Holiday Weekend). This is a second year event for our youngest athletes and is designed to be a fun, developmental tournament (no qualification required, no club affiliation required). The divisions for this year’s event will be 12U Mixed, 12U Girls, and 10U Mixed. The 12U Girls and 10U Mixed will play 5 on 5 (4 x field players, 1 goalie). The Age as of Date for both divisions will be August 1, 2019 which should increase the number of eligible athletes and hopefully increase the number of teams entered into the tournament. The hope is all clubs throughout the Southwest Zone will enter/support this event as well as teams from outside of Texas coming to Houston to join in on the fun. USA Water Polo – Dare to Dream – Texas Festival

  • Dates: Saturday, January 18th – Sunday, January 19th
  • Location: Lamar High School Natatorium, 3325 Westheimer, Houston, TX 77098 (brand new indoor pool)
  • Divisions: 12U Mixed, 12U Girls, 10U Mixed (12U Girls and 10U Mixed will be 5 on 5 – 4 x field players, 1 goalie)
  • Age as of Date: August 1, 2019
  • Entry Fee: $300 per team. Payments will be collected when completing the online registration.
  • Registration Deadline: Friday, January 3, 2020 at 9pm (PT).

  • Roster Lockdown: Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 9pm (PT). No changes will be permitted after the roster lockdown.

Tournament Details

  • Age as of Date: August 1, 2019
  • Bronze level membership and birth date verification is required for all athletes
  • There is no club affiliation rule for this national event
  • There is no qualification required for this tournament
  • Teams will play no more than 3 games per day
  • Athletes can only play on one roster in a single division (athletes can play in multiple divisions)
  • 12U Girls and 10U Mixed will play 5 on 5 (4 x field players, 1 goalie)

  • 5 on 5 (4 field players, 1 goalie)
  • 12 minute running halves
  • 9 athlete roster limit
  • 3 minute half time
  • 15 yard course length
  • Smaller Goals/Balls
